My time at Imperial has been absolutely amazing!
Imperial College School of Medicine provide a high-quality medical course, which from the start allows you to apply the strong scientific foundations and knowledge into clinical practice! Imperial offer a multitudinous array of opportunities from research projects to extracurriculars! Having our own Imperial College School of Medicine Student Union creates such a wholesome, welcoming community, where you get to meet like-minded students from all over the globe! Coming to Imperial for Medicine was definitely best decision I made!
My experience at Imperial medicine has been second to none, and I have enjoyed the variety of teaching offered along with the numerous co-curricular activities- have enjoyed rowing throughout the year.
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my first year studying Medicine at Imperial. From the course itself to the extracurricular activities I got involved with, including the African Caribbean Society showcase (Afrogala), Gospel Choir concerts, netball and Nutritank, I have been able to make the most of the range of experiences Imperial has to offer. I also loved living in halls and was able to make a lovely set of like-minded, faith-centred friends who have encouraged me and helped make this year a great one!
Being at Imperial College school of medicine over the past year has been a truly phenomenal experience. I have had the honour of working alongside some extremely knowledgeable individuals in the most amazing environment. I really have grown to appreciate how varied life at medical school is, from lectures to labs, each day is truly unique, and I've loved every step of the journey this far!
ICSM has provided me with countless wonderful learning opportunities over the past two years. We learn from the best doctors in their fields, and get clinic experience in action-full central London hospitals.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my past 3 years at ICSM. The new curriculum is engaging and innovative, and the faculty has been very responsive to the feedback we have given them. Starting placement n the early years really helped me feel less overwhelmed at the beginning of my clinical years, and the support I have received throughout has been adequate.
As a first year medic, my time at Imperial has been nothing like I expected yet has been beyond what I ever imagined. The amazing people I’ve met, high quality teaching and various opportunities provided have been incredible and I am excited to see what else Imperial has to offer.
ICSM has given me many opportunities through extracurriculars, teaching and overall university life. I have received a lot of support and guidance and know that I will never feel alone here as both the teachers and students are more than happy to guide you through your journey here at ICSM!
"Hi, I'm Annie! I've just finished the Reproductive and Developmental Sciences iBSc, and I'm entering my 5th Year on the Medicine MBBS course.
Whilst an intercalated BSc no longer carries a significant weighting to future career applications, it is a fantastic opportunity to explore the exciting challenges faced by the world's top researchers and maybe get a publication or two! The traditional 9am-5pm schedule allows you to more freely pursue leadership roles within societies, part-time employment and volunteering opportunities to holistically advance your career preparation than in other busier years at medical school.
Over the next few weeks, I'm really excited to start my Obstetrics and Gynaecology placement at St Mary's Hospital in Paddington, refreshed following a year of research and ready to enter into the clinical world again! "
"Starting out at Imperial I was pretty nervous, as I'm sure a lot of people were. I went into my degree with no experience of living by myself and completely out of my comfort zone. However, this year I think I've changed a lot for the better, and Imperial played a huge role in this. The attitude towards extracurriculars here, and the sense of community and welcoming I found in many of the societies I'm part of made me feel comfortable exploring my interests freely. The pastoral systems in place here, with a combination of tutor and Inter-year peer support, were a real source of inspiration. The incredible people I've met here, staff and students, keep me motivated and excited about studying here. I've come out of first year more passionate about my subject than before, more confident with discussion and thinking outside of the box, and with more self knowledge, and for that I'm grateful.
For any newcomers, and for prospective students; the amount of independence you are given over your studies and your life can be daunting, but see it as an opportunity. Academically and personally, it's completely worth it, so don't be afraid to change how you did things before, and keep an open mind!
"
Imperial is one of the top universities worldwide, the course modules are well structured and the contents included will enable you to become a skilful and well-prepared scientist. Medicine school also has outstanding lab projects supported by professional and powerful techniques, which will help you to practice the manual skills and be familiar with the life of a scientist. Our school will also help you to develop the skills that shape you in a more rounded way, such as critical thinking and scientific writing skills. If you are interested in medicine, imperial BMB and Medicine are good choices for you. Hope to see you in our department in the future.
"Deciding to do medicine at Imperial was one of the best choices I made. The curriculum was perfect for me with the outstanding teaching and the early exposure to clinical medicine. We use a spiral curriculum meaning, we build up on topics during the years rather than learning them all at once.
Also, Wednesday afternoons are booked out for sports or other activities. As there are a variety of societies, there will be one for you (if not more)!
This allows for an excellent student-life balance between studies and making the most out of your student years."
