Monitoring and Adding Timers during the exam
Adding Timers
- Publish the Exam as a Lesson:
- Start by publishing the exam as a lesson in the correct LAMS course.
- Access Timing Settings:
- Locate the heart-shaped monitor icon associated with the exam area.
- Open Timing Limits:
- Double-click on the exam area to bring up a pop-up window.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page in the pop-up window.
- Navigate to Timing Limits:
- Select the tab labeled “Timing Limits.”
- Choose Timing Options:
- In the “Timing Limits” section, you’ll find three options:
- Duration Relative to Student Start:
- Set the duration in minutes for each learner to complete the assessment.
- This duration starts from the moment each learner begins the assessment.
- For example, if set to 5 minutes, all learners will have 5 minutes from the moment they start the assessment.
- Duration for All Learners:
- Set the total number of minutes for all learners to finish the assessment.
- This duration applies to all learners, regardless of when they start the assessment.
- Set the minutes and click “Start” for the time to apply.
- Individual Extensions:
- Apply duration extensions for individual learners, such as extra time or break time.
- Search for the learner and apply extra time as needed.
- You can also use this feature to adjust time for individual students due to technical difficulties or other issues.
- Note: You can only add new students to this list before the main timer runs out. Once it expires, you cannot add new extensions.
- Duration Relative to Student Start:
- In the “Timing Limits” section, you’ll find three options:
- Refresh the Page:
- After students join the exam, refresh the page to ensure the timers apply correctly.
- This will refresh your connection and ensure accurate timing for all students.
- Additionally, refresh the page when adding new extensions to the timers.
