Monitoring and Adding Timers during the exam

Adding Timers

  1. Publish the Exam as a Lesson:
    • Start by publishing the exam as a lesson in the correct LAMS course.

  1. Access Timing Settings:
    • Locate the heart-shaped monitor icon associated with the exam area.

  1. Open Timing Limits:
    • Double-click on the exam area to bring up a pop-up window.
    • Scroll to the bottom of the page in the pop-up window.
  2. Navigate to Timing Limits:
    • Select the tab labeled “Timing Limits.”

  1. Choose Timing Options:
    • In the “Timing Limits” section, you’ll find three options:
      • Duration Relative to Student Start:
        • Set the duration in minutes for each learner to complete the assessment.
        • This duration starts from the moment each learner begins the assessment.
        • For example, if set to 5 minutes, all learners will have 5 minutes from the moment they start the assessment.
      • Duration for All Learners:
        • Set the total number of minutes for all learners to finish the assessment.
        • This duration applies to all learners, regardless of when they start the assessment.
        • Set the minutes and click “Start” for the time to apply.
      • Individual Extensions:
        • Apply duration extensions for individual learners, such as extra time or break time.
        • Search for the learner and apply extra time as needed.
        • You can also use this feature to adjust time for individual students due to technical difficulties or other issues.
        • Note: You can only add new students to this list before the main timer runs out. Once it expires, you cannot add new extensions.
  2. Refresh the Page:
    • After students join the exam, refresh the page to ensure the timers apply correctly.
    • This will refresh your connection and ensure accurate timing for all students.
    • Additionally, refresh the page when adding new extensions to the timers.
