Project Picker Tool

How to create a Project Picker activity

1. Go to the dashboard of the Project Picker page (https://medlearn.imperial.ac.uk/project-picker/)

2. Select the “Project Picker” tab to show all created project types. Here you can edit previously created project pickers or create a new one

3. To create a new project, select “Add New Project Type”

4. You need to complete the following information and then click “Publish” once complete:

  • Title – The title for the project picker
  • Instructions – Instructions for the students
  • Group or module – use the search to find an existing module or group to tie the project picker to. You can switch programmes and academic year as needed
  • Add some additional data columns to display for the project, or keep just the default columns shown
  • For each additional data column, choose whether it will be displayed in the Project List Table
  • Under Project Settings, choose the minimum and maximum number of selections a student may choose before submitting and tick whether they can rank/order their basket

5. Once you have created the project picker, you will then need to import a list of projects. This will need to be in a specific format, and will match the format of a Qualtrics export. The file should be of the type XLSX and the first row should be the column names. To do this, repeat step 1, find your project picker, then click the blue “Import from Qualtrics” button, then choose a file and click “Upload”

6. In order to present the project picker to your students, go to https://medlearn.imperial.ac.uk/project-picker/ and click your project picker. Copy the link from the address bar and paste it wherever you wish to present the project picker to your students

7. Once you have collected some data, you can view and export the collected data. To do this, repeat step 1, then click the pink “Student choices” button to view the collected data and click “Download this data” to export it
